A Weekend in Napa Travel Itinerary

My mom and I headed to Napa last Labor Day weekend where we spent two days filled with wine tasting and exploring the area! It was our first time to visit Napa, so we had a lot to pack in!

Having spent time in high school living in Burgundy, I absolutely fell in love with Napa as it reminded me so much of my time in France. It’s beautiful, romantic and each winery has a different look and feel. Read what we did over our long weekend, and look out for some extra highlights below - like where to shop my favorite look of the trip!

Saturday

We headed first to Yountville which is just north of Napa. It’s a quaint area with great restaurants and lots of tasting rooms. We started off the morning with brunch at Bouchon Bistro then visited the adjacent Bouchon Bakery for some gorgeous pastries.

The first tasting of the trip was at Domaine Chandon with a variety of delicious sparkling wines (my favorite!). They have large grounds so we roamed, sipping our glasses. It would be a perfect spot to bring your own picnic!

We then had two more tasting stops: Stewart Cellars Tasting Room where I loved their Sauvignon Blanc, and Odette Estate Winery where we roamed the vines! It was the perfect time of year to visit as many of the grapes were just ripe for harvesting!

It was then time to check into our hotel, Silverado Resort and Spa, that is also stunning. They have a beautiful white mansion house as the keystone of the resort with a golf course, tennis courts and pools. It was one of the cheaper resort options in the Napa Valley, but was still stunning and a great place to stay!

Dinner was then at Bistro Don Giovanni where I had life-changing handmade pesto pasta (still craving it), then did our final tasting of the day at Ashes & Diamonds Winery. Truthfully I didn’t love their wines, but the tasting room’s architecture was beautiful!

Sunday

After enjoying breakfast in bed followed by a few hours at the pool, it was time to head back out to wine country! The beautiful Darioush Winery was our first stop of the day. We didn’t have a scheduled tasting but were still able to try a few wines!

Inglenook Winery was the next stop, where we did have a great tasting paired with cheeses. Before lunch at Sam's Social Club, we stopped by Napa Valley Vintage Home for some shopping!

It was over 90*F all weekend, so the heat paired with wine sucked the energy out of us!

We didn’t visit these stops, but heard great recommendations about these other wineries and restaurants that you may want to add to your next itinerary: Farmstead Cafe, Mumms Vinyard, Castello di Amorosa, and Sterling Vineyards.

Monday

We ended the weekend walking around Napa and the Oxbow Public Market and grabbing salad and fries at Gott’s Roadside before hitting the road! It was such a fun, easy trip for us and I’ll definitely be going back! I have been converted, and know there are so many more amazing vineyards and restaurants I can’t wait to explore one day!
